H e is one of the third generation o f Haucks to which this properly has belonged. H is tract contains seventy-two acres o f clearcil land and thirty-eight acres o f woodland, and is in a desirable location about ten miles south­ east o f Hloomslnirg. Since his return to his native county M r. Ilau ck has been quite ac­ tive in (he loca) government, and has served hts township as school director, overseer of the poor and in other offices. On Nov, 8, 1 9 1 1 . he was elected associate judge. N atur­ ally fitted for ]x>sitions o f trust, his experience in public |x»ts o f responsibility has strcngthcni*<l his qualities and ripenetl his judgment, and he has been very sthrcessful in (lie admin­ istration o f his local offices. H e is a Demo­ crat, a member of the Grange, and belongs 10 the l.utheran Church, in whose work he has )>cen active from the age o f sixteen years. He served as Sunday school superintendent at Sunbury and W ilkes-Barre, and is now holding that {losition at Bloomsburg. M r. Hauck married M ary Ureisch, daugh­ ter o f John and Folly (F e ite ro lf) Breisch, and they are the parents o f eight children: Harold J .. Hubert A .. Leah Irene. Catherine A ., Ruby E., O n llle E . , and M ary E. B O Y D H. D O D SO N was born Sept. 13. j8 6 i, in the vicinity o f Fairmount Springs, Luzerne Co., Fa., and w*as given common school ailvantagcs. He has t»ccn engaged in the lumber business and contracting through­ out his business career, for many years as head o f a prosperous concern at Berwick, where he resides. Mr, Dodson h is been pub­ lic-spirited ill furthering the devclo|>ment of Berwick since he became a resident of the borough, and his assistance has licen recog­ nized and appreciated by his fellow towns­ men. who place much importance upon the influence his encouragement has in local a f ­ fairs. H is social connections arc with the Freemasons, Ko>*al Arcanum and Knights of Malta at Berw ick, and in religion he is asso­ ciated with the Methodist Episcopal O uirch. On political questions he is a Republican. M r. Dodson married Sarah H ess, <laughtcr o f Joseph O. and Helen (C ole) Hess, of Su garloaf townsliip. Columbia county, and two children have b ^ n bom to them : Martha E . and Phyllis Olga.

The Dodson family is o f old Pennsylvania stock, and Mr. Dodson’s immediate ancestors have all been farm ers. His grandfather, Jo ­ seph B. Dodson, a native o f Northampton. I’a., settled in Union township. Luzcm c county, where he ow*ned a tract o f eight h u nd r^ acres. He cleared all this land of the timber, ran a sawmill, and engaged extensively in farming. The old log house in which lie had his home is still standing there. H e w*as a man o f energy* and force of character. In fiolitics he was a Whig. H is w ife. Dodson, son o f Jo sq d i B. and Susanna (Bcnnct) Dodson, w*as bom Ju n e 4, 1804, in Union township, Luzcm c county, where he had a common school education. H e follow*ed agricultural pursuits on his father’s projKrty, which was divided, Joseph clearing ]iart o f a 160-acre portion, ^foving to H u n ­ lock township, Luzerne county, he passed the remainder o f his life there, dying in 1B93, and w as buried at Sangertowm. in that tow n­ ship. Originally a W hig in politics, he su b­ sequently became a Republican, and took an active interest in the questions of the d ay and in local affairs, serving his township as tax collector. H e belonged to the Methodist Episcopal Church.
