H e obtained his early training in the public and high schools o f H arrisburg, after which he w as prepared fo r the dental pro fession in the U niversiiy o f Pennsylvania, from which he graduated in 1883. Imme* diately thereafter he began practice in H arris burg. remaining there until 1885, when he came to Danville, where he has since con tinued to practice. D r. Jennings married S arah H urley Baldy, and they have three chil dren, ^ w a r d Baldy (born Sept. 4. 18 9 7), Henrietta Cooper and A lice Montgomety. D r. and M rs. Jennings are members o f Christ Episcopal Church at Danville. E o w a h d H u r l e y B a l d y, J r ., eldest son of the late Edw ard H urley Baldy, w as bom at Danville Dec. 7, 1849. and received his educa tion in the E xeter School and Andalusia Col l i e, Philadelphia, where he s t u d i^ law under Charles E . L e x . H e w as admitted to the bar. and began to practice in Phil.idelphia, where he w as regarded as one of the brightest minds in the legal profession in that city at the time o f his death, which occurred when he w as but twenty-six years o f age. _ Even at that time he had attained Ihc position of assistant district attorney, under W illiam B. H e visited the South with his brother Edw ard, and after the lattcr’s death returned lo Danville, where a fte r com pleting his legal studies he w as admitted to the bar in 1877. From that time to the pres ent he has been practicing law in the courts o f Montour county, with more than usual success. H is principal work is in connection with the Danville National Hank, o f which he was elected president on Oct. 2, 1807, hold ing the office continuously s i i K C . Ilis inter ests arc identical with those of the Iwrough and he has given active and valuable 8cr'ice as water commissioner. Since the completion of the Thom as B eaver Free L ib ra iy he has been one of the trustees, and has proved a stanch and valuable friend to the institution. H e is also a member of the A rt Club o f Philadelphia. J a m e s M o n t g o m e r y B a l d y, M . D., son of E d w ard II. Baldy, S r., by his second m ar riage, w as bom in Danville. P a., Ju n e 16, i860, and attended at first the private schools of that place. Later he w as sent to St. P au l’s School, Concord, N . I I . H e b ^ n his med k a l studies under D r. Jam es D . Strawbridge, o f Danville, subsequently taking the regular course at the U niversity o f Pennsylvania, from which he graduated in 1884. He first located fo r practice at Scranton, but remained only a year, going thence to Philadelphia, where he is now located. Su rg ery is his specialty, and he has done much work at the S t. Agnes, the Pennsylvania and the Gynecean hospitals. H e lias been prominently con nected with the Post Graduate College of Philadelphia, and in spite of the heavy drafts made upon his time by his large private prac tice and hospital work has found opportunity fo r active membership in the various medical and su rgkal societies of the countiy. H e has served a s president of the .American Gyne cological S ^ ie ty, and has been president of the Pennsylvania Bureau o f Medical Educa tion and Licenses, to w'hich he w as appointed by Governor Tcncr.
