CHAPTER XIII. MURAD BAKHSH CROWNS HIMSELF. Muhammad Murad Bakhsh, the youngest son of Shah Jahan, was the black sheep of the Im- perial family. He had been tried in Balkh, the Guzerat, and he Murad Bakhsh : his character. Deccan, and had failed everywhere. A petuous prince, his foolish, pleasure-loving and im- character had not improved with age. Though too old now to plead the excuse of youth and inexperience, he had not learnt to apply himself to business or to bridle his passions.
