Near the bed is a table with a cloth ; upon it are two medicine bottles. A dog sniffs at a cord which hangs out of a charcoal- pan. Very beautifully executed. Canvas, 28 inches by 23 inches. Sales. The physician, wearing a black cloak trimmed with fur and a tall hat, sits at his study-table to the left, and looks attentively at a phial in his right hand, which he holds up to the light. The young mother stands on the right and points at her little son, who has a troubled look, and with folded hands awaits the physician's verdict. The figures are only half shown.
