Under an old tree, near the last cow, a herdsman converses with a woman carrying two pails on a yoke. A river flows obliquely across the background ; on it are a boat and some small vessels ; on the farther bank are houses among trees. The sky is overcast ; it is a cool day. " Painted in the artist's finished manner " (Sm.). Panel, 2o| inches by 29^ inches. From the description, this might be identical with 195 at Glasgow, from the Graham Gilbert collection, but the catalogue gives different dimensions.
