In the centre are two horses ; one is laden with goods ; on the other, a grey, sits a traveller who drinks from a large jug which a woman with a child in her arms has handed him. A land- scape with a canal, on which is a ferry-boat with three passengers. To the left is an inn. In front of it a post-waggon with two horses draws up ; a cavalier helps a lady to alight. Near them a horse without a bridle drinks out of a pail. Round the house are numerous figures. On the right a woman with a brass milk-can sits on the ground.
