He sits, with his hat on, facing left, at a little round table, on which are a paper and an ink-pot. He is cutting a quill pen. On the floor to the left are two folio volumes, one lying flat, the other upright. In the back wall is a little window ; to the right is a door. Of the middle period, about 1645.
