At a wooden table with a spirit bottle and glass on it, two peasants sit conversing. In front sits a merry peasant, holding a wine-jug in one hand and a glass in the other. To the left, by the fireside, sits an old man lighting his pipe. At the back is a basket of turf, with wood and household utensils. In the remote back- ground are a still and a stove.
