Three tall mills stand to the left by a stream, at the foot of a hill, on the top of which are trees seen against a cloudy sky. The slopes in the centre distance are wooded. On a plain in front bleachers are at work spreading out linen. Signed with the monogram ; canvas, 23^ inches by 28^ inches. WATER-MILL WITH A SLUICE. The mill is in the right centre. Two men are raising the sluice-gate, and the water rushes down between the two wheels into a pool in front. Behind the mill are trees ; to the left is a landscape. The mill-wheels are seen from the side, and not directly in front as in 158 and other pictures. Good in quality and well preserved.
