On the left is a view over a river and a meadow, beyond which a church tower rises amid trees and bushes. One of Potter's best works, probably painted somewhat earlier than the " Young Bull " at The Hague (48), which is dated 1647. Signed in full above to the right on the kennel ; canvas, 39 inches by 53 inches. A study for it (174^) was in the Van der Marck sale, 1773, No. 249. Sales.
