He wears a black cloak lined with white silk, and sits at a table with a cover, on which lie an open book with a map of Zeeland and a sword. In the background to the left is a red curtain, while to the right is a view of a landscape. Above the signature are four coats-of-arms. Wrongly attributed to Constantijn Netscher. He wears a bluish velvet cloak over a brown velvet coat, a cravat and cuffs of fine white linen, and a long powdered wig. His right forearm rests on the corner of a table with a heavy cover.
