and expensive illustrated books. Through these sources we learn how many children’s pictures were made by the French Bouguereau and Boutet de Monvel, the English Sir John Millais and Burne-Jones. A few good contemporary pictures, like Shannon’s Miss Kitty and Mr. Chase’s Alice, are scattered through our American public collections, and are rapidly becoming known through the efforts of art dealers.
