poet and physician; grandfather of Charles Robert Darwin; b. at Elston, near Newark, Notts ; educ. at Cambridge and Edinburgh ; first settled m Notting- ham as a physician ; afterwards went to Lichfield. The latter part of his life he resided at Radbourne and Darby, and finally at a house called "The Priory," about five miles from Darby, and d. there.
