But, in the meantime the deadly Malarial Fever, which had caused a great havoc throughout lower Bengal, had also ravaged Birsingha, and had told seriously on the local English school, established by our hero. The institution had lost its existence. On the 14th April, 189O, Vidyasagar re-established the school, and named it 'The Birsingha Bhagavati School' after the name of his deceased, beloved mother.
