An examination of the cystocarp, which I had not seen at the time my list of Cape Algae was published, has convinced me that the plant should be referred to the genus Pleonosporium rather than to Aristothamnion. Hymenocladia kalymenioides mihi (= Microccelia kalymenioides Holmes). Port Alfred, SZavm ! Kowie, J5^c/<;^r! Under this name I place the plant previously recorded as H. polymorpha J. Ag. Prof. Schmitz pointed out to me that it was a new species of Hymeno- cladia, but, before it was published, a plant was described by Mr. Holmes as Microccelia kalymenioides in Annals of Bot. vol. viii. p. 339 (Sept. 1894). Mr. Holmes there states that it is the opinion of Prof. Schmitz that his plant belongs to Hymenocladia
