Pastor Lohmann's visit was only too short; but he couldn't stay any longer. He did not come to any village, nor to the old monasteries around here who would have been interested him. Sister Christiane and I followed him along the way, and we had a farewell dinner together in the village of Chaskøi, approx. 3½ hour ride from Musch.

Sister Hansine stayed with me for the two weeks she was in Musch, and we had a really good time together and so much to talk about. I had a lot of accounts and other things to do before I could leave, so Sister Hansine rode up in advance to the Monastery "Surp Garabed" - the sacred precursor - where I will spend my holiday with Sister Christiane. Sister Hansine will only stay shortly, as she will be traveling back to Mesereh with Sister Alma. We have gotten it so magnificent up here, pitched our big tent under a big tree, made a "stove" and a leaf cabin for booth of our two baby girls who are with us. They are all so incomparably kind and helpful to us, not least the monastery’s warden Wartan wartabed. This monastery is 8-9 hours’ ride from Musch, on the other side of the Euphrates, high up on a mountain, here it is free and fresh, delicious air and good water, and we can get meat, milk, madsun, cheese and eggs from the monastery, as much as we want and also bread, so we have it excellent. Here it is quiet and peaceful and well, really a resting place for soul and body. I do not treat any sick here, because then I get no rest, which is what I need now. This monastery has a large, old and beautiful church; it was built by Grikor Lusavoritsch - the bringer of light- around the 3rd century AD. It owns large tracts of land and has 1000 sheep and goats, cattle and horses, it is rich, but gives a lot, as a lot of guests often come here, especially for the big holidays. In 14 days, there’s one of the main parties - warteware - then there will be a lot of pilgrimage from Musch and the surrounding area and from Erzerum, yes even from Russia. Then there will be lively up here and very uneasy, but it only lasts a few days, then most people go away again. It will be interesting to attend such a national party sometime; I will tell about it later. Now there is so quiet and peaceful here. We live under some large trees outside the monastery wall and have a small kingdom for us selves.

I need intercession. May the Lord fill me with His Holy Spirit and make me burn for the cause of His kingdom and for the salvation of souls! Pray also for wisdom for my great, responsible deed. Not this year either does it seem like the Lord will send us a German brother to lead the station, so I will still have a lot to do besides all the work with the sick, and it will not be easy. About the work of the sick and the poor I will write another time, there is also much to tell. Pastor Lohmann thought Musch was completely different from Mesereh and found that there was even more distress here, and that is also the case. Dear friends, do not tire of helping in all this spiritual and physical distress, there’s much prayer and many means needed.

There are big tasks in Musch. We need a hospital and schools so. Pastor Lohmann will gladly entertain a faithful Norwegian physician in Musch, if there is a skilled one at home who will come out here and help us. He believes that the greatest emphasis must be placed on working on the sick, schools and evangelism in the Musch area, and that is also what is most needed.

Ask, and you will receive Mat. 7, 7, yes, pray, pray for the work and for the right workers and for the salvation of souls in the great Musch area where darkness is still raging; But one day, too, the light will triumph over darkness, and that hope holds us up in difficult and dry times.
