NOTE ON THE ILLUSTRATIONS
The two drawings are by the Japanese artist, Keishū Takénouchi. The frontispiece illustrates the scene in the story “Yuki-Onna” described on page 113, and the drawing facing page 180 illustrates the Butterfly Dance, described on page 203.
