This opinion is one of the ablest upon the question it involves. Judge Brackenridge says, "I would recommend every American student to read this opinion of Judge Cooper's ; not so much for the reasoning and ideas, as for the analysis and systematic comprehension of the subject. The author traces the great outlines of the law of real property, hav- ing a feudal origin,^ both in Scotland and England, and marks its causes and variations in a brief but learned and philosophical manner. His work is highly esteemed and very much relied upon by those who have had occasion to investigate the Feudal Law since Dalrymple wrote.
