Lon- don. 1809. from the Court Reports, originally published in the Boston Morning Post, from 1834 to 1837. Arranged and revised by the Reporter of the Post (Gill). 12mo. Boston. 1837. " Although this work is not intended particularly for the profession, it contains such facts and illustrations, in relation to the administration and effect of the criminal law, as can be found in no other place, and the knowledge of which cannot but be productive of great good." 1 L. R. 117; 20 A. J. 231. SELLON, B. J. Practice of the Courts of K. B., and C. P. Originally compiled, by J. Crompton. Revised, corrected, and newly arranged, by B. J. Sellon. With the addition of the Modern Cases to the present time, and a Practical Treatise on the Mode of passing Fines and suffering Recoveries. 2 vols, 8vo. London. 1798. 1st American edition, Avith the addition of the new Cases. 2 vols. 8vo. New York. 1813. SELWIN, W. Abridgment of the Law of Nisi Prius. llth ed. 2 vols. 8vo. London. 1845. 5th American, from the 9th London edition, with Notes by H. Wheaton and T. L Wharton, 2 vols. 8vo. Philadelphia. 1839. Selwin's Nisi Prius is more complete than Bullet's, more accurate than Espinass', and more methodical than either, but less copious than several modern treatises upon the same subject. It is a standard work upon Nisi Prius law in England, and "is acknowledged by the bench as a text book of authority and character." The second American edi- tion was very thoroughly and ably edited by Mr. Wheaton, which, with the successive editions, has been a favorite work with the profession in this country, though Stephen's Nisi Prius is a more complete and copious treatise than Selwin's, and appears to be now taking its place. 2 L.
