The underlying motive of each is the seeking of the real amid the unreal–whether love as it appeared to the awakened sense of the ascetic; or the vision of the soul, piercing the shams of the priest to the preception of Deity. That the qualities of Sir Rabindranath Tagore’s literary genius well fit him for the writing of plays, his published books have already demonstrated.
