This judicious, enlightened, and truly christian sentiment, is of itself an imperishable evidence of the profound conceptions of his understanding, and alone sufficient, if there were no other proof of his desire to promote the happiness of his fellow creatures, to entitle him to the respect and gratitude of mankind.
With the same enlightened zeal, he pointed out the pernicious consequences which would result from the introduction of foreign spirits into this country.
