APPLICABILITY: The working range is 10 to 200 mg/m 3 (3 to 64 ppm) for a 5-L air sample and is applicable to ceiling determinations. Better sensitivity may be obtained by using higher sampling rates if high humidity is not present [3,4]. This method has been used extensively in the viscose rayon industry and at carbon disulfide production facilities.
INTERFERENCES: No interference occurs from hydrogen sulfide [4]. Water vapor is a potential sampling interferant [4] which is removed by the drying tube. Alternate GC columns, e.g., 5% OV-210 on Chromosorb G-HP or DB-5 fused silica capillary, aid in resolution of chromatographic interferences.
OTHER METHODS: This revises Method S248 [5] and Method 1600 (dated 2/15/84). The criteria document method [3] uses a higher sampling rate. This method replaces P&CAM 179 which uses a similar collection method but extraction-atomic abso rption for measurement [6].
