METROSIDEROS ALBIFLORA, Banks and Sol.

White Rata.

This is probably the handsomest of the climbing species of Metrosideros, or Rata. The leaves are large, broad, and long-pointed, and the flowers, which are white, are arranged in large leafless cymes at the ends of the branches. It is confined to the northern parts of the North Island, and may often be seen clothing the lower portions of the trunk of the Kauri Pine, or others of the larger forest trees. (Cheeseman). Flowers in November. Thames.
