BAR BRIEFS
7

While the topic was "The Possibility of Disarmament," Judge Clarke naturally dipped into the League of Nations and General Mitchell very forcibly expressed his views on aircraft. The discussion became quite spirited and the speakers came back several times to answer their opponents. On the whole, the speakers seemed to concur in but one proposition, that reduction of armaments would not necessarily lessen the danger of war.

The meeting seemed to make the writer realize the dangerous morass through which Europe is dragging. It is discouraging to realize that civilization is very possibly sinking to a new period of the Dark Ages, and that only the greatest care and foresight will prevent such a catastrophe.
