    • To the Rev. Father E. O'Growney, who recently died quite young in California, the Gaelic

revival movement in Ireland owes more than to any other man, save Dr. Douglas Hyde. In particular he inspired the younger generation of Roman Catholic clergy with his enthusiasm. The bringing back of his body from California to Ireland in the summer of 1903 gave rise to a most remarkable manifesta- tion of national affection and sorrow for the young scholar who had done so much, and from whom so much more was expected.
