London, under the Presidency of the late Alderman Harmer. for

granting Pensions and Temporary Assistance to principals and

assistants_engaged as_yendors_of Newspapers,

enjoy "its benefiTs^upon payment" of F?ve"shillTngs annually, or Three Guineas for life, provided that he or she is enraged in the sale of Newspapers, and such Members who thus contribute secure priority of consideration in the event of theic needing aid from the Institution.

PENSIONS The Annuitants now number Thirty-six, the Men receiving -SI. and the Women 2(W. per annum each.

The "Royal Victoria Pension Fund, commemorating the great advantages the News Trade enjoyed under the rule of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria, provides 201. a year each for Six Widows of

The " Francis Fund" provides Pensions for One Man, 251., and One Woman 20!., and was specially subscribed in memory of the late John Francis, who died on April 6, 1882, and was for more than fifty years Publisher of the Athenaeum. He took an active and leading part throughout the whole period of the agitation for the repeal of the various then existing " Taxes on Knowledge," and was for very many years a staunch supporter of this Institution.

The " Horace Marshall Pension Fund " is the gift of the late Mr. Horace Brooks Marshall. The employes of that firm have primary right of election to its benefits.

The "Herbert Lloyd Pension Fund" provides 25Z. per annum for one man, in perpetual and grateful memory of Mr. Herbert Lloyd, who
