MB. F. C. CARTER of Hornsey sends his Extr Series 3, containing Manuscripts and Printe Books. Under Gibbon and his Ancestors is parcel containing the marriage settlement o Gibbon's grandfather and Catherine Acton, 1705 and other documents, 10Z. Under Unpubiishec Correspondence of the Gibbon Family is a serie of 17 draft letters, apparently from Mrs. Dorothe. Gibbon to her stepson Edward Gibbon, Lor( Sheffield, and others, 251. Mr. Carter says thes letters throw quite a new light on the life o both the historian in London and his mother a Bath. Under Patton family is an account boo] of Gibbon's stepmother, 81. 8s. ; and under Birth place of Gibbon are two deeds, 3Z. Mr. Frank Red way's Wimbledon Catalogue 6 contains numerous Baxter oil prints. Bronte collectors will find Patrick Bronte's prizes won at Cambridge, each containing in his handwriting " My Prize Book for having always kept in the Thirst Class at St. John's College, Cambridge," besides many notes. There is also Charlotte's Bible, Barker, 1612, with her autograph, 3 vols., 20?. Under Browning are the first editions of " Straff ord,' half -morocco, 11. 10s. ; and ' Bells and Pomegranates ' (Part V. is, as usual, the second edition), Moxon, 1841-6, 11Z. 15s. There are a number of curious chapbooks. Under Cruikshank is the first edition of Pierce Egan 1821, SI. 10s. The first edition of Gissing's first book ' The Workers in the Dawn,' 3 vols., 3?. 3s. Under Rossetti are the first edition of ' Early Italian Poets,' 31. 15s.; and Littledale's 'Reasons against joining the Church of Rome,' inscribed " Christina G. Rossetti from R. F. L. Epiphany- tide, 1885," with pungent notes in the margins, 14s. The first edition of ' In Memoriam,' original cloth, Moxon, 1850, is 31. 10s.
Messrs. C. F. Sawyer's Catalogue 20 contains much of interest relating to Dickens, including a collection of playbills, folio, relating to per- formances of the works of Dickens, 1845-66, 101. 10s. ; and the novelist's copy of Woolnoth's

These are bound in full blue calf. Under Shelleyana is Dowden's Life with over two hundred extra illustrations, 71. /s.
