Diiring the holidays a boy does not pay attention to lessons. The ancient languages of Greece and Ronie do not dclight a boy during the holidays. There-are many aniusements of a boy when he is free ^ from lessons. Games of ball give great delight to a boy, not only during the hoHdays but also when he is not ^ free from lessons.
Peter is a sailor. I Hke Peter. Peter's boat is a source (§9)^ not only of amusement but also of gain to Peter.

^The Adjective used with the Verb ' to be ' must be in the same Case and Number as the Subjccl of which it is s.iid ; thus here 'free' niust be Nominalive Singular, because ' hc ' is Nominative Singular.
