OREGON LITERATURE.

OUR EMBLEM FLOWER.

Copyright 1889, by Wiley B. Allen.

Wild flower of Oregon,
Loved by each native son,
Of thee we sing.
Emblem of hope and pride,
Along the mountain-side,
Down to the ocean's tide,
We praises bring.

From cascades to dell,
Where birds in echo swell,
Their songs so free,
Where rolls the Oregon,
By love's sweet labor won,
From morn to setting sun,
We sing of thee.

From Hood's prophetic crest,
Throughout the golden West,
In every bower,
Columbia's breeze has blown,
Sweet yellow petals grown,
"Wild grape of Oregon,"
Our emblem flower.

—Ena M. White.
