The grammarians, Diomedes as well as Priscian, never cite otherwise than Livius ah urhe condita lihro — and this would lead us to conjecture that the historian had added nothing more: perhaps that he might not use the title either of annates or historice: but as this inscription sounded very strange, it was filled up.
