HALL (WILLIAM), printer at Oxford, 1656-72. Briefly noticed by Mr. Madan in his Chart of Oxford Printing, p. 30. Probably related to Henry Hall, q.v. In 1662 he was University printer, with Henry Hall.

HAMMOND (JOHN), printer in London; Over against S. Andrews Church in Holborne, 1642-51. In partnership with M. Rhodes, q.v. Hammond was the printer of the news-sheet, The Kingdoms weekly Post, 1643, and a curious piece of Americana entitled Of the Conversion of Five Thousand and Nine Hundred East Indians … By means of M. Ro. Junius … related by M. C. Sibellius … Translated … by H. Jessei … with a Postscript of the Gospels good successe also amongst the West Indians in New England. London. Printed by John Hammond, and are to be sold at his house voer [i.e. over] against S. Andrewes Church in Holborne; and in Pope's-Head-Alley by H. Allen. 1650. [E. 614 (6).]

HANCOCK (JOHN), bookseller in London, (1) Bible in Birchen Lane; (2) Pope's Head neer the Exchange; (3) In Cornhill at the entrance unto Pope's Head Alley. 1643-66. Took up his freedom October 1st, 1638. [Arber, iii. 688.] Dealt largely in political broadsides, but amongst his publications was an edition of Gildas' Description of Great Britain, 1652.
