ON SEEING "THE BLIND BEGGAR" OF THE CARRACCI.
Amidst the living mass of human kind
There strolled a beggar, poor and lone and blind—
Blind from his birth—a sightless dreaming boy,
Who felt, but never saw the sun's bright joy,
Till at the feet of ¢ Jesus Christ" he came,
And then a thrill of faith shot through his frame,
And, kneeling down, he begged, in humble prayer,
That blessing, sight—nor long he lingered there.
