THE SEA WHISPER.
ON the sandy beach I sate,The dark weed round me strown,Listening to the wind that broughtIts hollow message, lone—      A whisper from the sea,      And what it said to me.
On the glistening, fading shoreWere thrown in careless heap,Shells and flowers of the sea,Sweet offspring of the deep;Still I listened to the wind that brought      The whisper of the sea,      And what it said to me.
A voice I heard from every shell,In whispers softly come;
