I saw her when in youthful pride,
He led her forth a blushing bride;
And leaning fondly on his arm,
She little dream'd of future harm.

For, sway'd by love's supreme command,
She gave him both her heart and hand:
Oh! had he kept his plighted vow,
She had not been as she is now.
