WHO ARE THE ARYAN PEOPLES?

There are families of races just as there are families within races. We find in a community certain groups of individuals who bear a strong stamp of likeness; they trace their history back through some generations to a common parentage; they bear, it may be, one common surname; and we group them by these characteristics which they possess in common, and speak of the different individuals as belonging to one common family. So it is upon a broader scale with races. Among the peoples of the earth we find certain races which resemble each other more than they resemble the other races of mankind, certain likenesses of form, of features, of complexion, of speech, of mental and spiritual evolution, and it may be of traceable race history; and because of this special resemblance we infer, and are sometimes able to trace, the common ancestry back of them, and we speak of them as a distinct family among races. We so speak of the Negroid or Black races; of the family of the Yellow peoples; of the Semitic peoples; and so we speak of the family of the Aryan peoples. Within this Aryan family we ordinarily class as the one kin, and because they possess in com-
