Dear Mr. Woodford:
Your letter of October 24, 1979 requesting approval to remove the I-296 designation from all signing and map designations for the US-131/I-296 freeway in Grand Rapids has received approval from our Washington office.
Attached is a copy of the memorandum from the Associate Administrator for Planning which officially approves your request.
Please note the final sentence of the penultimate paragraph, that all official correspondence, fiscal documents, project numbering, and other records should continue to refer to the highway as I-296.
