The collections of saltwater- and freshwater algae hrought home by the 2nd Fram Expedition, are not included in the treatises contained in Vol. 4.
The Volume must go to press without waiting for the treatment of this group of plants, as the scientist who had originally engaged to undertake the task, has now declared that he is not in a position to do so. Besides, he states that, he cannot say where many of the saltwater algae are at present to be found.
If these collections of algae should be dealt will later on, the results will appear as separate treatises in the publications of w Videnskabs-Selskabet, Christiania".
