The Overfews X. And that the fame Overfeers, or two of them, fhall every Quarter of the faid Year at the leaff, or '-Duty. fo often as Need {hall require, by their Difcretions, by Force hereof, vifit and. go into every Clothiers, Drapers, Clothworkers, Dyers and Preffers Houfes, Shops and other Places where Cloth or dyed Wool fhall be, and there to make due Search, and to view the Clothes and Wools made or dyed, or remaining to he fold, and to fearch and try, as well whether the faid Clothes be drawn or {trained, or falfly dyed, as alfo of all other the Defaults before fpecified, committed or done contrary to the true Meaning of this Ad. The Forfeiture (2) And if upon the Search the Clothes be found drawn or {trained, or the Cloth or Wools falfly dyed or Defaults in _ co loured, or any other of the faid Faults committed or done contrary to the true Meaning of this Statute, ^th, and who ..^ ( .j aen the r^y f evera ] Forfeitures to incur upon the Party or Parties which fhall offend in the fame, or , 'in any of them; (3) the one Half of all which Forfeitures to be unto the King our Sovereign Lord, his Heirs or Succeffors, and the other Half to fuch of the faid Overfeers as doth find the faid Defaults or Caufes of Forfeitures, and that will fue for the fame in any of the King's Courts of Record, or before the Juftices of Peace within any fuch City, Borough or Town Corporate, or before the Juftices of Peace within any Shire where any fuch Forfeitures fhall be had out of any City or Town Corporate; the fame Suit to be purfued by Bill, Plaint, Action of Debt, Information or otherwife; and in which Suit no Wager of Law, EfToin or Protection fhall be allowed for the Defendant. XI. And if the faid Overfeers fhall be negligent, and will not fue for the fame Forfeitures by the Space of one half Year next after the Caufe of the fame Forfeitures committed and done, that then the one Half of the fame Forfeiture to be unto our Sovereign Lord the King, his Heirs or Succeffors, and the other Half to him which will fue for the fame, as is aforefaid, within one other half Year next after fuch Default be had by the faid Overfeers. The Forfeiture XII. Provided always, and be it ena£ted by the Authority aforefaid, That it fhall and may be lawful to every Perfon and Perfons to put to Sale any Cloth or Clothes made, dyed or preffed, which before the faid Feaft of the Annunciation of our Lady fhall be made, dyed or preffed, any Time within one Year next after the faid Feaft of the Annunciation of our Lady, fo as the Aulnagcr or his Deputy, or other Head Of- ficer in any fuch City, Borough, Town, Village or Hamlet, do put fome notorious Mark to every fuch Cloth, whereby the fame may be known to be made before the faid Feaft of the Annunciation of our Lady next coming. within what XIV.
