D. 169;/, frcm the firft Day of May one thoufand leven hundred, until the faid firft Day of Aiiguji oni- thoufand fe- vcn hundred and fix, and of or for the faid Impofitions or Duties upon Wines, Vinegar, Tobacco, EaJ} India Goods, wrought Silks, and other Duties therewith granted and continued by this Act from the eight and twentieth V)s.y oi Scptemher one thoufand kvsn hundred and one, until the faid firft Day o( Avgrijl one thoufand feven hundred nnd fix, and all the Monies (if ^y fuch be) which from and after the full Pay- ment and Satisfaflion of the faid Sums, not exceeding fifteen hundred thoufand Pounds, borrowed upon the Credit of the faid AcSt paflcd in the Parliament holden in the feventh and eighth Years of His Majefly's Reign, for the faid continued Duties upon Wines, Vinegar, Tobacco, Eq/l India Goods, and other Mer- chandizes, fhall arife thereby, until the faid nine and twentieth Day of September one thoufand feven hun- dred and one, and be brought into the faid Receipt of Exchequer, and as to all the Monies, which from and after the full Payment and Satisfaftion of the Sums of Money, not exceeding one Million feven hundred twenty-four thoufand Pounds, borrowed or to be borrowed as aforefaid, for the Service of the War, upon Credit of the faid A6t for continuing and making perpetual the faid Duties upon Salt, Glafs Wares, Stone Applrc'ition of and Earthen Wares, and upon Tobacco Pipes, and other the Duties thereby granted or continued ; It is the geneiai hereby further enafled and provided, That al! the Monies fo arifing and brought from time to time into ^^"'^- the faid Receipt of Sa'c^^^k^-, of or for the faid general Fund, confiiting of the faid feveral Duties, Impo- fitions and Revenues before enumerated and mentioned, as the fame fhall from time to tim.e commence or take Eft'eft, fhall be diflributed, ifiued and applied, to and for the Payment of Principal and Intereft charged upon or direfted to be paid as aforefaid, out of the faid deficient Funds; that is to fay, The faid firft Aid of four Shillings in the Pound, the faid third Aid of four Shillings in the Pound, the faid fourth Aid of four Shillings in the Pound, the faid quarterly Poll, the faid three fourth Parts of the Cuftoms, the faid Duties upon Salt, Glafs Wares, and other Earthen Wares, and Tobacco Pipes, the faid two third Parts of the additional Excife, the faid additional Impofitions payable for Goods and Merchandizes, the faid Duties pay- able upon Vellum, Parchment and Paper, the faid Rates and Duties payable upon Marriages Births, and Burials, Batchelors and Widowers, the faid continued Impofitions payable for Wines, Vinegar, Tobacco, £n/} htdia Goods, and other Merchandizes imported, and upon the faid yearly Sum of three hundred thou- fand Pounds payable out of the Subfidy of Tunnage and Poundage ; fo as that a proportionable Part of the Monies fo coming in, to be diflributed as aforefaid, fhall be diftributed, iffued and applied, to pay Prin- cipal and Intereft upon every one of the Funds laft mentioned, according and in Proportion to the Sum of TreaAiry oiks in the Deficiency thereof, before in and by this Aft computed and expreffed ; and that the CommilTioners of 2S Days to caufe His Majefly's Treafury, or any three or more of them now being, or the High Treafurer or Under Trea- an Account to furer of the Exchequer, or any three or more of the Commiflloners of the Treafury for the time being, fhall, Moni'cs"brouRht On or before the fix and twentieth Day of ja/y one thoufand fix hundred ninety-eight, and from thence- intothc Exche- forth, once in every eight and twenty Days, or oftner, caufe an exaiSt Account to be made or taken of all quer, &c. the Monies that fhall be brought into the Exchequer, applicable to pay Principal and Intereft on the faid , deficient Funds as aforefaid, and (hall thereupon immediately, from time to time, by their Warrants and Order?, caufe fuch Money to be diftributed, applied and placed to the Account of each Tax, Revenue or Fund fo deficient as aforefaid, in the juft Proportions before mentioned, and according to the true Intent and Meaning of this Ait. Ergland and their Succeffors, .as to all and every other Pcrfon and Perfons, Bodies Politick and Corporate, who are or fliall be intitled to receive the faid Principal and Intereft, in fuch and the like Courfe, Order, Manner and Form, as if the fame were Monies really arifing by the faid refpeftive Taxes, Duties or Funds, hereby comptited and expreffed to be deficient as aforefaid, and that without being diverted or divertible to' any other Ufe, or mif tpplied, and without giving any undue Preference, under the Penalty of incuriing the fame Forfeitures and Difabilities by the Officers and other Perfons concerned therein, as they would have incurred for diverting or mifapplying any the Money of fuch Tax, Duty or Fund, in cafe the fime were Bank to fccive not deficient ; and that out of the faid Monies fo from time to time arifing, and being brought into the Ex- 8). per Cent. chequer, of or for the faid grneral Fund, hereby orovided and eil:abliflied for making good the faid deficient out of gen-r.-ii fundg^ the faid Governor and Company of the Bank of England fhall from time to time receive fo much as fubfci-ibed ftc. ^' '""3^6 up and compleat for them an Intereft, after the Rate of eight Pounds per Centum per Annum, as v/ell for all and every the Tallies and Orders which fhall be fubfcribed and brought into the Bank a? afore- faid, and be charged upon .any of the Funds purfuant to this Ac):, as for any other their Tallies and Orders, whereupon the Intereft (in regard of the Subfcription of one Fifth in Bank Bills or Notes) is to be augmented to the Rate of eight Founds per Centum per Annum, by virtue' and in purfuance of this Aft. bh"'Aa to'" XLiy. That in all Cafes where any Duty, Revenue, beappHedin Aid ■^'^P<'°" *"' ■^^^'^^ '^^^^^oever, is by any Aft or Afts of Parliament before this Time made and pafiect, thereof. appropriated to or for the Repayment of Principal in courfe, or the Satisfiiftion of Intereft at any Rate or Rates whatfoever, of or for any Loans which have been made upon the Credit of fuch former Aft or Afts, the refpeftive Duties, Revenues, Impofitions or Branches, arifing by virtue of fuch former Afts, fhall be applied, and fuch Principal and Intereft, out of the Monies arifing thereby, fhall be fatisfied to thofe which are or fhall be intitled thereunto (whether it be the Bank of England, or any others) in the fime Courfe, Manner and Form, as by the faid former Afts are prefcribed and required; and that the new' Duties or Funds, by this Aft- provided and eftabliflied, fliall go and be applied in Aid thereof, in fuch Manner and Form, and under fiich Limitations and Direftions, as are h;reby prefcribed, until the faid Principal and 3 Intereft
