Wife of the faid Duke, for and during the Term of her natural Life ; and from and after her ■ Deceafe, the fame fhould be and remain unto, and be held and enjoyed by the Heirs Males of the Body ' of the faid Duke of Marlborough begotten ; and for Default of fuch IlTue, that then the fame fliould be ' and remain unto, and be held and enjoyed by all and every the Daughtei-s of the faid Duke of MarJho- ^ rough, and the Heirs Male of their refpe£tive Bodies ilfuing, and all others feverally and fuccefEvely, in ' fuch Manner as the faid Titles, Honours and Dignities aforefaid are therein before expreffed and limited ' to go, and be enjoyed : And 'twas thereby provided and enafted. That neither the faid Duke oi M irlbo- ' rough, or the Heirs Male of his Body, nor any of his Dau_hters, or the Heirs Males of their Bodies, or ' any other Perfon to whom the Premilfes fhould come or defcend by Virtue of the Limitations aforefaJd, ' ihould have any Power, by Fine or Recovery, or any other Aft, Affurance, or Conveyance in the Law, ' to hinder, bar or difinherit any the Perfon or Perfons to or upon whom the faid Manors, Houfe, Lands, ' I'enemenis, Hereditaments, or Premiffes, w-ere thereby vefted or limited, from holding or enjoying th; ' fame, according to the Limitations in the faid Aifl mentioned (other than and except fuch Leafes as the ' faid Duke and Dutchefs might make, by Virtue of the Powers therein before mentioned, and fuch other ' Leafes as Tenants in Tail might and were enabled to make, by Virtue of the Statute made in the two ' and thirtieth Year of the Reign of King Henry the Eighth, and Grants of Lands or Tenements held '-by Copy of Court-roll, according to the Cuftoms of the refpeftive Manors aforefaid) but that all fuch ' Fines, Recoveries, Aft, AfTurances, and Conveyances, other than fuch Leafes and Grants by Copy, as ' aforefaid, fhould be, and were thereby declared and enafted to be void. And whereas we your Majefly's ' moft dutiful and loyal Commons, taking into our Confideration the many eminent Services of the faid' ' Duke of Marlborough, whereby the Glory of your Majefty's Government, the Honour and Safety of ' your Kingdoms, and the Intereft of the common Caufe have been fo highly advanced, did with all Sub- ' miffion addrefs ourfelves to your Majefty's moft facred Perfon, humbly to defire.
