And whereas Makers of Sweets for Sale, when they have Occafion to lend or deliver Sweets to ' Vintners and other their Cuftomers, do from Time to Time draw and take the fame from their Stock-Cafks

' mediately make Quantities of new Sweets equal and anfwerable to fuch Quantities fo fent or delivered, and ' do then put in or mix fuch new Sweets to and with the remaining Part and Parts of fuch their Stock and ' Stocks of old Sweets ; all which being frequently done and performed without the leaft Privity or Know- ' ledge of the Officers of Excife, who fhould make Charges of the Duties for and in refpect of fuch new ' Sweets fo made as aforefaid, they the faid Officers of Excife, for want of Difcovery and due Notice there- ' of, neither do or can make fuch Charges, whereby his Majefty is very much defrauded of and in his Duties ' upon Sweets :' For Remedy whereof, Be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if from and After 1 -Aug. after the firft Day of Auguft one thoufand feven hundred and twenty any Sweets made in Great. Britain for I , 71 °' Suee " Sale, for which the Duties fhall or have been duly paid, or have been duly charged by the proper Officer or theDutiesnw to Officers of Jixcife, are or {hall be intended to be fent or removed from one Place to another, the Officer of beremov.'dwith- Excife of the Place from whence fuch Sweets are fo be fent or removed fliall, upon Requeft, and without outCeit.ficate, Fee or Reward, give Certificates underhis Hand, expreffing therein the Quantity and Qualities of fuch Sweets &c - fo to be fent or removed, and the Name and Names of the Perfon and Perfons from whom and to whom fuch Sweets are fo to be fent; and if from and after the faid firft Day of Auguji one thoufand feven hundred and Makers of twenty any Maker or Makers of Sweets for Sale (hall fend or remove, or fhall caufe to be fent or removed, Sweets fending any fuch Sweets from one Place to another, or if any Vintner or Vintners fliall receive or take into his, her or ""^"j 1 g t " er9 their Cuftody or PofTeffion any fuch Sweets without fuch Certificate or Certificates, that then and in every fuch without Cenifi. Cafe, as well every fuch Maker and Makers of Sweets for Sale, as alfo every fuch Vintner and Vintners, cate, forfeit 10s. fliall reflectively forfeit and lofe the Sum of ten Shillings for every Gallon of Sweets which fliall be met per Gallon; 2nd with or found fo fending or removing, or fent or removed, or which (hall be fo received or taken in ; and j|" -Sweets and alfo that all fuch Sweets, which from and after the faid firft Day of Augti/i one thoufand feven hundred and a s " twenty fliall be found or met with fending, carrying or removing, or fo fent, carried or removed from one Place to another, without fuch Certificate or Certificates as aforefaid, and the Cafics and VefTels containing the fame, fliall be forfeited, and fliall and may be feized by any Officer or Officers of Excife ; one Moiety thereof to be to the Ufe of his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors, and the other Moiety to be to the Ufe of him or them that fliall feize the fame; and that every Seizure and Seizures of fuch Sweets, and of the Seizures andFor- Cafks and VefTels containing the fame, which fliall or may be made by Virtue or in Purfuance of this Act, feitures, how to and alfo every other Forfeiture and Forfeitures, which from and after the faid firft Day of Auguft one thou- k= proceeded find feven hundred and twenty fliall or may be made by Virtue or in Purfuance of any Act or Acts what- upcn " foever relating to the Duties of Excife, or to any other Duty or Duties under the Management of the Com- miffioners of Excife, fhall and may be proceeded upon, heard, examined into, adjudged and determined by E , • ,. the fame Ways and Means, and in the fame Manner and Form, as is and are herein and hereby prefcribed, lationto Appeals directed or appointed to be done upon Seizures of Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits or Strong Waters, not by 1 Geo.
