' direct Practices, contrary to the Intention of the faid Aft, to the great Detriment of the Publick, in Breach ' of their Truft, and to the manifeft Wrong and Oppreffion of great Numbers of his Majefty's Subjects :' Now to the End that their Perfons and Eftates may be fecured, fo as to anfwer and be liable to Juftice in Parliament, Be it enacted, £sV. EXP. " The Sub-Governor, Directors, &c. of the South-Sea Company fha.ll not go out of the Kingdom for one c f Year from December 8. 1720. and till the End of next Seffion of Parliament. But fhall enter into Re- " cognizance with Sureties before the Barons of the Exchequer not to depart, &c. The Sub-Governor, " &c. to be bound in the Penalty of ioo,coo /. and Sureties, in 25,000/. each. Neglecting to enter into " fuch Recognizance before February 8, 1720. to be committed to the Fleet without Bail. The Sub- " Governor, &c. departing out of the Kingdom, and Perfons aiding to fuch Departure fhall be guilty of " Felony. The faid Sub-Governor, &c. fhall before March 2;, 1721. deliver upon Oath to one of the " Barons of the Exchequer, two Inventoi ies of ail their Real and Perfonal Eftate, of which they were Dof- " feffed on June 1, 1720. and alfo of fuch Eftate as they have aliened or difpofed of fince that Day. Barons " of the Exchequer to deliver a Duplicate of fuch Inventories to either Houfe of Parliament. If fuch In- " ventories appear evafive, or upon Signification from either Houfe of Parliament for a farther Examina- " tion to be had thereupon, or on Information of any Concealment, C5c. the Barons .may examine Perfons " on Oath, and fummon the Sub-Governor, &c. to appear ; and in Default iffue their Warrants to brin» " them before them. Refufmg to be examined, fhall be committed to the Fleet without Bail. Not deli- " vering Inventories,- or not fubmitting to be examined in eight Days after Commitment, or being guilty " of any Concealment, &c. fhall fuffer Death. The Barons may iflue Warrants to apprehend Perfons re- " fufing to appear upon Summons ; and may commit to the Fleet fuch as refufe to be fvvorn, and anfwer to " Interrogatories, till they fubmit to be examined. The Sub- Governor, &c. difabled for one Year after " January <;, 1720. to alien, &c. any Lands, &c. But they may difpofe of their Eftates by their Laft ct Will. The Sub-Governor, Wc. fhall not for one Year after January c, 177.0. convey any of their " Goods, &c. out of the Realm, except Shares of Ships, &c. Offending fhall be guilty of Felony. Per- " fons having accepted of any Truft, or concealing any Eftate, &c. to forfeit treble the Value, and be " imprifoned for one Year without Bail. Difcoverers of any concealed Eftate, before -September '9, 1721. fhall " be allowed 20 /. per Centum for Effects beyond the Seas, and 10 /. for Effects in this Kingdom.
