After 1 March £721, forging Letters of At- torney, Sec. cipal Sums, from time to time, remaining unfatisfied, being computed by the Day, until the Time of every fuch Payment of Part of the Principal refpe£tively ; then from and after every fuch Payment fo made, fo much of the faid Annuity or Annuities which fhall have been fo purchafed as aforefaid, as (hall bear Proportion to the Monies fo paid in Part of the faid Principal, fhall ceafe, determine and be abated; any Thing in this or any former Acl or A&s of Parliament contained, or other Matter or Thing whatfo- ever to the contrary notwithftanding. XVI. Provided alfo, and it is hereby further enacted, That from and after the Redemption of the An- nuities which fhall have been purchafed as aforefaid, according to the feveral and refpeclive Provifoes or Conditions of Redemption in this Ad contained, then, and not till then, fo much of the feveral Duties, Revenues and Incomes as are by this Acl applicable thereunto during the Continuance thereof, fhall be underftood to "be redeemed by Parliament, and fliall not be iflued, paid or applied to any Ufe, Intent or Purpofe whatfoever, without Authority of Parliament. XVII. Provided alfo, and it is hereby enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That fo much of the Ca- pital Stock of the faid Soutb-Sca Company as fhall remain in that Company after Sale of fuch Part or Parts thereof, as fhall be fold purfuant to this Acl (if any Part thereof fliall be fo fold) fhall, after the faid Feaft of the Nativity of Saint John Baptijl one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-feven, be redeem- able by Parliament, upon Payment of fuch Sum and Sums of Money whereof their Capital fhall then confift, (exclufive of fo much as fhall have been fold by them purfuant to this Acl) and of all Arrears of their Annuities which fhall then remain to them, and upon Payment of the Arrears of the yearly Sums allowed to the faid Souib-Sea Company for Charges of Management; and that the Redemption of their Capital Sum fo remaining, fliall or may be made upon Payment by Parliament at one Time, or at feveral Times (not being lefs than one million at a Time) according to the Powers of Redemption contained in one AS of Parliament made in the fixth Year of his Majefty's Reign in that Behalf. ' XVIII. And whereas the firft Moiety or Half-part of the faid Rate of ten Pounds per Centum, for ' Money borrowed of the faid South-Sea Company, was, by the before-mentioned Acl of the laft Seffion ' of Parliament, limited to be paid on or before the twenty-fifth Day of December one thoufand feven ' hundred and twenty-one, and divers Perfons intended to be relieved by the laft mentioned Acl, having ' lapfed the faid Time of Payment, are thereby at prefent excluded from the Benefit of the faid A&:' For Relief of the faid Perfons, Be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if any Perfon or Perfons in- tended to have the Benefit of the faid laft mentioned Acl;, and who have lapfed the faid Time of Pay- ment, or the refpective Heirs, Executors or Adminiftrators of fuch Perfons, fhall pay to the Cafhier of the faid Company for the Time being, to and for the Ufe of the faid Company, at their publick Office in London, fo much Money as a Moiety of the faid ten Pounds per Centum, to be computed on the Sums fo refperStively borrowed, as in the faid Aft is expreffed, fliall amount to, on or before the twenty-fifth Day of April one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-two, with Intereft for the faid Moiety of the faid ten Pounds per Centum, from the faid twenty- fifth Day of December one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-one ; then fuch Perfon or Perfons fhall, upon fuch Payment made, or lawfully tendred, and be- ing refufed, and not otherwife, be entitled to the Benefit of the laft mentioned Acl, as fully as if fuch Payment of the firft Moiety of the faid ten Pounds per Centum had been duly made within the Time limited by the faid laft mentioned Act. 9 Geo. 2. c. 34. 10 Geo. 2. c. 17. 20 Geo. 2. c. 3. fee. 60. 24 Geo. 2. c. z & II. 26 Geo. 2. c. 16. An Acl to prevent the Mifchiefs by forging Powers to transfer fuch Stocks, or to receive fuch Annuities or Dividends as are therein mentioned, or by fraudulently perfonating the true Owners thereof; and to rectify Miftakes of the late Managers for taking Subfcriptions for increafmg the Capital Stock of the South-Sea Company, and in the Instruments founded theretiDon. i. HERE AS of late divers Frauds and Abufes have been committed by forging and counterfeit- ing the Elands of fome of the Proprietors of the Shares of and in the Capital Stock and Funds' of fuch Body or Bodies Politick or Corporate, as are eftablifhed by Acl or Acls of Parliament in that Behalf, or fome of them, or by forging or counterfeiting the Hands of Perfons entitled to the Divi- dends attending the faid Shares, or fome of them, or by forging or counterfeiting the Hands of Perfons entitled to Annuities, in refpecl whereof the Proprietors have transferable Shares in a Capital Stock or Stocks eftablifhed by Ail or Ails of Parliament, in Proportion to their refpective Annuities ; and divers Frauds and Abufes have been or may be committed by Perfons fallly and deceitfully perfonating the true and real Proprietors of the faid Shares in Stock, Annuities and Dividends, or fome of them:' Now for the better preventing fuch pernicious Practices for the Future, Be it enacled by the King's moil Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Com- mons, in this prefent Parliament aflembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That if any Perfon 01 Perfons whatfoever, from and after the firft Day of March one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-one.. fliall forge or counterfeit, or procure to be forged or counterfeited, or knowingly and wilfully acl or affift in the forging or counterfeiting any Letter of Attorney, or other Authority or Inftrument to transfer, af- fign, fell or convey any fuch Share or Shares, or any Part of fuch Share or Shares of and in fuch Capital Stock or Stocks as aforefaid, or any of them, or to receive any fuch Annuity or Annuities, Dividend 01 Dividend 1 ;
