H E R E A S by an Act of Parliament made in the feventh Year of his Majefty's Reign, inti- tuled, An Ail for raifing Money upon the Eftates of the late Sub-Governor, Deputy-Governor, Di- rectors, Cajlner, Deputy-Cajliier, and. Accountant of the South-Sea Company, and of John Aiflabie, Efquire,' and likewtfe of James Craggs fen. Efquire, deceafed, towards making good the great Lofs and Damage fuf- tained by the faid Company ; and for difabling fuch of the faid Perfons as are living to hold any Office or Place of Truft under the Crown, or to ft or vote in Parliament for the future ; and for other Purpofes in the faid Aft expreffed';' It is enacted (amongft other Things) That all and every the Real Eftate and Eftates whatfocver, and of what Nature or Kind foever, and all Rights of Action, Ufes, Trufts, Powers and Authorities whatfoevcr, and all and every the Share and Shares in the Capital Stock or Stocks of any Corporation, Company or Society, and all Monies due upon any Account or Accounts balanced or to be balanced, and all other Debts and Securities for Debts, and all ready Monies, Goods ard Merchan- dizes, Perfonal Eftate and Effects whatfoever, of what Nature or Kind foever, which Sir John Fellazves, Baronet, late Sub-Governor, Charles Joye, Efquire, late Deputy- Governor, and JVilliam A ft ell, Efquire, Sir Lambert Blackwell, Baronet, Sir John Blunt, Baronet, Sir Robert Chaplin, Baronet, Six JVilliam Chap-' man, Knight and Baronet, Robert Chefter, Efquire, Stephen Child, Efquire, Peter Delaporte, Efquire, Francis Eyles, Efquire, fames Edmondfon, Efquire, Edward Gibbon, Efquire, John Gore, Efquire, Sir JVilliam Hammond, Knight, Francis Hawes, Efquire, Richard Horfey, Efquire, Richard Hotdditch, Efquire, Sir 'Theodore Janjfen, Knight and Baronet, Sir Jacob Jacobfon, "Knight, Arthur Ingram, Efquire, Sir John Lambert, Baronet, Sir Harcourt MaJler, Knight, fViliiam Morley, Efquire, Ambrofe Page, Efquire, Colonel Hugh Raymond, Samuel Read junior, Efquire, Thomas Reynolds, -Efquire, Jacob Sawbridge, Efquire, William Tillard, Efquire, and John Turner, Efquire, late Directors of the Corporation of the Governor and Company of Merchants of Great Britain trading to the South-Seas, and other Parts of America, and for encouraging the Fifhery, commonly called the South-Sea Company, and alfo Robert Knight late Treafurer or Cafhier, Robert Surman late Deputy-Cafhier, John Grigsby late Accountant to the faid Corporation, and John Aifabie, Efquire, every or any of them, upon the firft Day of June Anno Domini one thoufand feven hundred and twenty, or at any Time or Times afterwards, or which James Craggs the elder, deceafed, or any Perfon or Perfons in Truft for him at the Time of his Death, was or were feifed or poffefled of, or interefted in, or entitled unto, in Law or Equity in their or any of their own Rights, or to his or their own Ufe or Ufes, or in Partnerfhip with any others (except as in the faid Act is excepted) were, by Force and Virtue of the faid Act, vefted and fettled in Sir John Eyles Baronet, Sir Thomas Croffe Baronet, John Rudge, Mattheiv Lant, Roger Hudfon, Efquires, now Sir Roger Hudfon Knight, Edmond Halfey, John Lade, Gabriel Roberts, and Richard, Hopkins, Efquires,- now Sir Richard Hopkins Knight, thereby nominated and appointed Truftees for the Ufes and Pur- pofes in the faid Act exprelTed of and concerning the fame, and the Heirs, Executors, Adminiftra,tors and Affigns of the fame Truftees, from the refpective Times in the faid Act named, to the Intent the fame might be fold and difpofed of, or otherwife applied to and for the Ufes and Purpofes in the faid Act exprefled concerning the fame, and that the clear Monies arifing thereby, fhould be appropriated to and for the Ufe of the South-Sea Company, in fuch Manner as therein is exprefled : And it is thereby further enacted, That the Entries of fuch Claims, as by the faid Act are directed, by or for any Perfon or Corporation in Great Britain, fhould or might be made at any Time before the twenty-fifth Day of Dece?nber one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-one, and by or for any Perfon or Perfons refiding or being beyond the Seas, or out of Great Britain, fhould and might be made at any Time before the twenty-fifth Day of March one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-two : And by the faid Act it is fur- ther enacted, That the faid Truftees, or any three or more of them, fhould and might inquire and in- form themfelvcs, by or upon the Teftimony of Witnefles upon Oath, or by the Examination of the Perfons making fuch Claims upon Oath (all which Oaths they, or any one or more of them, had there- by Power to adminifter) or by the Infpection of any Mortgages, Bonds, Bills, Notes, or other Secu- rities, or any Accounts relating to the faid Debts, cr any of them fo claimed, or by Infpection of any Grants, Gifts, Settlements, Conveyances, Transfers, or Aflurances relating to the faid Eftates, Inte- refts, or incumbrances fo claimed, or any of thern, or by all or any of the faid Ways and Means, or otherwile, according to their Difcretions, as foon as convenientlv might be, touching all or any of the Deb.ts, Eftates, Intereits, or Incumbrances fo claimed, and fhould make a Report or Reports in Wri- ' ting or their Proceedings therein, with their Opinions thereon, from time to time, to the Court of Di- rectors of the faid South-Sea Company for the Time being ;
