' the Importation of Wine Lees, in Proportion to the faid Rate, commonly called the Two Third Si bfidy ; ' and v/hereas by an Acl made in the fourth Year of the Reign of their late Majefties King William and 4W.&M. e, 5. ' Qeeen Mary, an additional Import of twenty-five Pounds for every Hundred Pound Value, was laid upon ' French Wine Lees imported, according to the laid Rate; and whereas by an Acl made in-the feventh ' Year of the Reign of his late Majefty King William the Third, an additional Duty of twenty-five 7W.&M.C.20. ' Pounds per Centum was laid upon FrenchWine Lees imported'; all which Afts which granted the faid fe- ' veral Subfidies, and other Duties commonly called the Old Subjidy, the One Third Subfidy, and the Tvjo ' Third Subjidy (except the faid further Subfidy which is granted to his Majefty during his Life) as alfo the ' faid additional Import and additional Duty, are by feveral fubfequent Aits of Parliament continued for ' ever, fubjecl to Redemption by Parliament : And whereas great Quantities of Wines hive of late been ' imported, mixed with, and under Pretence of Lees, which were afterwards drawn off, and fold as Wine, ' to the manifeft Abufe of the Law, and Prejudice of the Revenue ;' For Remedy whereof, We your faith- ful Commons in Parliament afienibled, do befeech your Majefty that it may be enacled, And be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That from and after the twenty-fourth Day of Auguji in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven After 24 Av. hundred and twenty-eight, the faid feveral Subfidies, additional Import, additional Duty, and other Duties 1 71S. the; - whatfoever, payable to your Majefty, your Heirs and SuccefTors, by any Law now in Force, upon the f 1 n . ! And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That the feveral Subfidies, Impofitions, and How tlicfe Du- . other Duties granted by this Aft, fhall be paid or fecured, and {hall be railed, levied and collected in fuch tiesfhall be fe- Manner and Form, and by fuch Ways and Means, and under fuch Penalties and Forfeitures, and with fuch cured. Difcounts and Allowances, as are mentioned and expreffed in the feveral Afts of Parliament, which granted or continued the feveral Subfidies, Impofitions, or other Duties upon Wines imported refpeclively ; and all Powers, Penalties, Provifions, Articles and Claufes therein contained, fhall continue in full Force and Eftett during the Continuance of the faid refpeclive Subfidies, Impofitions, and other Duties upon Wines, and {hall be applied, practifed and executed for the raifing, levying, collecting, fecuring, anfvvering, pay- ing and appropriating the faid refpeclive Subfidies, Impofitions, and other Duties on Wine Lees imported, according to the true Intent and Meaning of this Acl, as fully and effedlually, to all Intents and Purpofes, as if the faid Claufes, Matters and Things, had been again repeated in the Body of this prefent Acl ; any Law, Cuftom or Ufage to the contrary in any wife notwithftanding. IV. And be it declared and enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That no Drawback fhall be allowed for ^o Drawback any Lees of Wine exported ; any Law, Cuftom or Ufage to the contrary notwithftanding. f cr wine Lees. ' V. And whereas by an Acl paiTed in the eighth Year of the Reign of his late Majefty King George 3 Geo. 1. c. 12.
