And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if any Action or Suit fhall be com- menced againft any Perfon or Perfons on account of feizing fuch Goods, the Defendant or Defendants in any fuch Action or Suit, may plead the General Iffue, and give this Act, and the Special Matter in Evi- General Iflue. dence at any Trial to be had thereupon ; and that the fame was done in purfuance, and by the Authority of this Act ; and if it fhall appear fo to have been done, the Jury fhall find for the Defendant or Defen- dants; and if the Plaintiff" fhall be nonfuited or difcontinue his Action, after the Defendant or Defendants fhall have appeared, or if Judgment fhall be given upon any Verdict or Demurrer againft the Plaintiff", the Defendant or Defendants fhall and may recover Treble Cofts, and have the like Remedy for the fame as any Defendant or Defendants have in other Cafes by Law. An Act to explain and make more effectual feveral Acts of Parliament parTed in the Reign of his prefent Majefty, for building a Bridge crofs theRiver Thames, from the City of IVefim'mfter to the oppofite Shore in the County Surrey, and for the better enabling the Commiffioners for building the faid Bridge, to finifh the fame, and to perform the other Trufts repofed in them •, as alfo for granting further Time for exchanging the Tickets unclaimed in the laft Lottery for the faid Bridge-, and to make Provifion for Tickets in the faid Lottery, loft, burnt or otherwife deftroyed.
