And to the end there may be no Want or Failure of a certain Sum not to exceed in the whole the faid Sum of one million, to be raifed either by fuch Loans as aforefaid, or by ifluing Exchequer Bills as is herein after mentioned, or by both or either of thofe Ways or Means for the publick Service ; Be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That in cafe the CommiiTioners of his Majefty's Treafury, or any three or more of them now being, or the High Treafurer, or any three or more of the Commif- iioners.of the Treafury for the Time being, fhall judge it more advifeable to raife the faid Sum of one mil- lion, or any Part thereof, by Exchequer Bills, in (lead of fuch Loans as aforefaid, that then they refpec- tively are hereby authorized and impowered at any Time or Times to prepare and make, or caufe to be prepared and made at the Exchequer, any Number of new Exchequer Bills, for any Sum or Sums of Money not exceeding in the whole the faid Sum of one million, together with fuch Loans as aforefaid, in the fame or like Manner, Form, or Order, and according to the fame or like Rules and Directions, as in and by a certain Aft of Parliament for granting an Aid to his Majefly by a Land Tax, for the Ser- vice of the Year one thoufand feven hundred and forty-four, are enacted and prefcribed concerning the Exchequer Bills to be made in purfuance of the faid Aft. IX. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That all and every the Claufes, Provifoes, Powers, Privileges, Advantages, Penalties, Forfeitures, and Difabilities, contained in the faid laft-men- tioned Aft relating to the Loans or Exchequer Bills authorized to be made by the fame Aft (except fuch Claufes as do Charge the fame on the Aids, Taxes, or AfTeffments granted by the fame Aft) fhall be ap- plied and extended to the Exchequer Bills to be made in purfuance of this Aft, as fully and effeftually to all Intents and Purpofes as if the faid Exchequer Bills had been originally authorized by the faid lad- mentioned Aft, or as if the faid feveral Claufes or Provifoes had been particularly repeated or re-enafted in the Body of this prefent Aft. X. And be it enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That all the Exchequer Bills as fhall be made in purfuance of this Aft, and the Intereft, Premium, Rate, and Charges incident to, or attending the fame, (hall be and are hereby charged and chargeable upon and fhall be repaid and borne by or out of the growing Produce of the faid Surpluffes, ExcelTes, and Overplus Monies commonly called The Sinking Fund (except fuch Monies of the faid Sinking Fund as are appropriated to any particular Ufe or Ufes by any former or other Aft or Afts of Parliament in that Behalf) ; and fueh Monies of the faid Sinking Fund fhall and may be iftued and applied, as faft as the fame can be regularly ftated and ascer- tained, for and towards paying oft", cancelling, and difcharging fuch Exchequer Bills, Intereft, Pre- mium, Rate, or Charges, until the whole of them fhall be paid off, cancelled, and difcharged, or Mo- ney fufficient for that Purpofe be kept and referved in the Exchequer, to be payable on Demand to the refpeftive Proprietors thereof. XL Provided always, and be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That all the Monies coming into the Exchequer, either by Loans or Exchequer Bills, upon one Aft of this Seflion of Parliament, intituled, An Acl for granting an Aid to his Majefly by a Land Tax, to be raifed in Great Britain, for the Service of the Year one thoufand feven hundred and forty-four ; and fo much Money (if any fuch be) of the Tax thereby granted, as fhall arife or remain, after all the Loans or Exchequer Bills made or to be made on the fame Aft, and all the Intereft, Premium, Rate and Charges thereon, and the Charges thereby allowable for raifing the faid Land Tax, fhall be fatisfled, or Money fufficient fhall be referved in the Exchequer to difcharge the fame ; and all the Monies coming into the Exchequer, either by Loans or Exchequer Bills, upon one other Aft of this Seffion of Parliament, intituled, An Acl for continuing the Du- ties upon Malt, Mum, Cyder and Perry, in that Part g/"Great Britain called England, and for granting to his Majejly certain Duties upon Malt, Mum, Cyder, and Perry, in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland for the Service of the Tear one thoufand feven hundred and forty-four ; and to fuch Money (if any fuch be) of the Duties thereby granted, as fhall arife or remain after all the Loans or Exchequer Bills made, or to be made on the fame Act, and all the Intereft, Premium, Rate, and Charges thereon, and the Charges thereby allowable for railing the faid Duties, fhall be fatisfied, or Money fufficient fhall be referved in the Exchequer to difcharge the fame ; and alio the Sum of ®ne million to be advanced and lent into the Receipt of his Majefty's Exchequer, by The United Company of Merchants s/" England trading to the Eaft ' Indies, for the Purchafe of an Annuity after the Rate of three Pounds per Centum per Annum, in purfuance of one other Aft of this Seffion of Parliament, intituled, An An for granting to his Majejly the Surplus or Remainder of the Monies arifen, or to arife, by the Duties on Spirituous Liquors granted by an ASI of the laft lajl Seffion of Parliament, and for explaining and amending the faid Ail in relation to the Retailers of fuch Li- quors; and for ejlablifhing an Agreement with The united Company of Merchants of England trading to the Eaft Indies ; and alio all the Monies coming into the Exchequer by Annuities after the Rate of three Pounds per Centum per Annum, and by Contribution by way of a Lottery, upon one other Aft of this Sef- fion of Parliament, intituled, An A ft for raifing by Annuities and a Lottery, in Manner therein mentioned, the Sum of one million eight hundred thoufand Pounds, at three Pounds per Centum per Annum, for the Service of the Year one thoufand feven hundred and forty-four ; and the Sum of thirty-fix thoufand Pounds remaining in the Receipt of his iVIajefty's Exchequer, arifen by impreft Money repaid on the Head of the Coinage Duty; and alfo the Sum of one million by this Aft granted as aforefaid, fhall be further appropriated and applied, and are hereby appropriated for and towards the feveral Ufes, Intents, and Purpoles herein after expreffed ; that is to fay, it is hereby enafted and declared, That out of all or any the ' Aids or Supplies aforefaid, there fhall and may be iftued and applied, any Sum or Sums of Money not "exceeding forty thoufand Pounds, for the Mai riage Portion of the Piiacefs of Denmark, one of his Ma- jefty's Daughters.
