Ci 20. j Geo, a, c, 6. and Rock Salt, made at the Salt Works, or taken out of any Pit* within the faid Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, or Town of Berwick upon Tweed, the Sum of one Penny Half-penny, and after that Rate for a greater or leffer Quantity, with divers Provifions and Directions in the faid Act con- tained for managing, collecting, paying and applying the faid Duties : And whereas by another Act made in the feventh and eighth Years of the Reign of his faid late Majefty King William the Third, intituled, An Ail for continuing to his Majefty certain Duties upon Salt, Glafs Wares, Stone and Earthen Wares, and for granting fever al Duties upon Tobacco Pipes, and other Earthen Wares, for carrying on the War againjt France, and for ejlahlijhing a National Land Bank, and for taking off the Duties upon Ton- nage of Ships, and upon Coals; the fame Rates and Duties were continued for ever for the Purpofes of the faid Act : And whereas by an Aft of Parliament made in the ninth and tenth Years of the Reign of his faid late Majefty King William the Third, intituled, An A£l for raifmg a Sum not exceeding two Millions, upon a Fund for Payment of Annuities, after the Rate of eight Pounds per Centum per An- num, and for fettling the Trade to the Eaft Indies; it was amongft other Things enacted, That there fhould be raifed, levied, collected and paid unto his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeuors for ever, for Salt, the feveral additional Rates and Duties following; that is to fay, For every Gallon of Salt, from and after the twenty-fourth Day of December in the Year of our Lord one thoufand fix hundred and ninety-nine, imported from foreign Parts, the Sum of (even Pence, of lawful Money of England, to be paid by the Importer or Importers thereof, and after that Rate for a -greater or lefier Quantity; and for every Gallon of Salt, and Rock Salt, from and after the twenty-fourth Day of December one thoufand fix hundred and ninety-nine, made at the Salt Works, or taken out of any Pit or Pits within the Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, or Town of Berwick upon Tweed, the Sum of three Pence Halfpenny of like Money, and after that Rate for a greater or lefier Quan- tity : And whereas by the Articles of Union between the Kingdoms of England and Scotland, all the faid Duties on Salt were, from the Times therein mentioned, to take Place in Scotland (except the addi- tional Duty on Home-made Salt) with fome Provifions for preventing Salt made in Scotland from being brought into England, without paying "the faid additional Duty on Salt made in England : And whereas by an Act of Parliament made in the. third Year of the Reign of his prefent Majefty, intituled, An Ail for taking off certain Duties upon Salt; and for making good any Deficiencies in the Funds that?nay happen thereby; and for charging the reduced Annuity payable to the Eaft India Company on the Aggregate Fund; and for Relief of Mathew Lyon, Executor o/^Mathew Page deceafed, in refpeil of the Duty for<Saitli/l by tht Overflowing of the River Mercy in the Tear one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-four, it is enacted, That from and after the twenty-fifth Day of December in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hundred and thirty, the Duty of one Penny Halfpenny per Gallon on Salt, and Rock Salt made in ihis Kingdom, which was granted by the faid Act of the fifth and fixth Years of the Reign of their late Majefties King William and Queen Mary; and alfo all the additional Duties on Salt, whether im- ported from Foreign Parts or Home-made, which were granted by the faid Ad of the ninth and tenth Yeats of the Reign of his faid late Majefty King William the Third, fhould ceafe, determine, and be no longer paid or payable; and then and from thenceforth all the Powers and Authorities given" or granted by any Act or Acts of Parliament for the levying, fecuring, collecting or recovering the fame; and all Penalties and Forfeitures relating thereto; and all Provifions, Regulations or Reftriftions rela- ting "to the importing or bringing of Salt -made in Scotland into England, without paying the faid addi-

  • tional Duty on Salt, fhould ceafe, determine, and not be put in Execution; and then and from thence-

4 forth the Right or Demand of any Perfon or Perfons in puduance of the faid recited Aits, or any of 4 them, on his or their exporting beyond the Seas, any Salt for which the faid Duties had been before fe-

  • cured or paid, to have the Securities for the fame difcharged, or the Monies paid for the fame repaid,
  • fnould ceafe and determine, as to fo much of fiich Securities or Payments as were given or made for
