Anno quarto Georgii IIL C. 2. 83 that bv the faid Rates fo to be taxed or affcffed, for or upon the faid ready Money, Debts, Goods, Wares, Merchandises Chatties, or Perfonal Eftates, and for and upon the faid Offices and Employments of Pro- fit and forar'd upon the Penfions, Annuities, Stipends, or yearly Payments aforefaid, and for and upon the faid Manors, Meffuages, Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, and other the Premiffes, according to the Purport and true Meaning of this prefent Act, the full and intire Sums hereby appointed to be raifed in England, Wales, and Berwick as aforefaid, (hall be completely and effeaually taxed, affeffed, le- vied and colleded, and ft all be paid into the Receipt of his Majefty's Exchequer, by four quarterly Pay- ments ; the firft Payment thereof to be made on or before the twenty-fourth- Day of June, which ftall be in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hundred and fixty-four. V ' And whereas many of the Manors, Meffuages, Lands Tenements, Tithes, Hereditaments, and < Premiffes in Emland, Wales, and Berwick upon Tweed, intended by this Ail to be charged with the ' Pound-rate as aforefaid, ftand incumbered with, or are fubjecl or liable to, the Payment of feveral Rent- ' charges or Annuities, or other annual Payments ifluing out of the fame, or to the Payment of divers ' Fee-farm Rents, Rent-fervice, or other Rents thereupon referved or charged, by reafon whereof the true ' Owners and Proprietors of fuch Manors, Meffuages, Lands, Tenements, or Hereditaments, do not in 1 Truth receive to their own Ufe the true yearly Value of the fame, for which neverthelefs they are by this

  • Act charo-eable with a certain Pound-rate;' It is therefore declared and enacted by the Authority aforefaid,

That it ftall ard may be lawful to and for the Landlords, Owners and Proprietors of fuch Manors, Mef- Lands &c. fi,b- fuages, Lands, Tenements, Hereditaments, and Premiffes, in England, Wales, and Berwick upon ^1™^" beino- charged with a Pound-rate as aforefaid, to abate and deduct, and to detain and keep in his, her, or s^* their Hanoi out of every fuch Fee-farm Rent, or other annual Rent or Payment, io much of the faid Pound-rate, which ftall be taxed or affeffed upon the laid Manors, Meffuages, Lands, and Premiffes, as a like Rate for every fuch Fee-farm Rent, or other annual Rent or Payment refpecuvely, ftall, by a juit Proportion amount unto, fo as fuch Fee-farm Rent, or other annual Rent or Payment refpedtively, do amount unto twenty Shillings per Annum, or more ; and all and every Perfon or Perions, who are or ftall be any ways intitled to fuch Rents or annual Payments, their refpeclive Auditors, Reeves, Receivers, and their Deputy or Deputies, are hereby required to allow fuch Deductions and Payments, according to fuch Rates upon Receipt of the Refidue of fuch Monies as ftall be due and payable to them for fuch Rents or annua'l Payments referved or charged as aforefaid, without any Fee or Charge for fuch Allowance. VI. A nd be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That for the better affeffing, ordering, levying, commiffioners oF and collecting of the feveral Sums of Money fo as aforefaid, limited and appointed to be raifed and paid, in the the Land Tax aforefaid Part of Great Britain called England, Wales, and Berwick upon Tzuecd, and for the more effedual for the Year putting of this Act in execution in reference to the fame, all and every ■ Ae Perfon and Perfons who 176* .to ^t th, s iii and by an Aft of Parliament made and paffed in the fecond Year of his Majefty's Reign, intituled, An Ail for appointing Commijfioners for putting in execution an Ail of this SeJJion of Parliament, intituled, An Act for granting an Aid to his Majefty. by a Land Tax, to be raifed in Great Britain, for the Service of the Year one thoufand feven hundred and fixty-two ; and by one other Ad of Parliament made and palled in the third Year of his Majefty's Reign, intituled, An Ail for rectifying Mi/lakes in the Names of feveral of the CommilRoners, appointed by an Ail made in the lafl Sejfton of Parliament, to put in execution an Ail made in the fame Seffion, intituled, An Aft for granting an Aid to his Majefty by a Land Tax to be raifed in Great Britain, for the Service of the Year one thoufand feven hundred and fixty-two ; and for appointing other Commiffioners together with thofe named in the firft mentioned Ail, to put in execution an Ail of this Seffion of Parliament, for granting an Aid to his Majefty by a Land Tax to be raifed in Great Britain, Jor the Service of the Year one thoufand feven hundred and fixty-three, or by any or either of thofe Ads, were named and ap- pointed Commiffioners for putting in execution the fame Afts, within the feveral Counties, Cities, bo- roughs, Cinque-ports, Towns, and Places of England, Wales, and Town of Berwick upon Tweed, duly qualifying themfelves according to this Aft in that Behalf, ftall be Commiffioners for putting in execu- tion, and ftall put in execution this prefent Act, and the Powers therein contained, within and tor the fame Counties, Ridings, Cities, Boroughs, Cinque-ports, Towns and Places refpeetively. VII. And be it further enacted and declared, That the feveral Commiffioners aforefaid ftall meet toge- commiffioners to grther'at the moil ufual and common Places of Meeting within each of the faid Counties, Ridings, Cities, meeton or before Boroughs, Cinque-ports, Towns, and Places refpeetively, within England, Wales, and Berwick «P^,™ i *?*? ^ Tweed, for which they are appointed Commiffioners as aforefaid, on or before the thirtieth Day of April v >< +> one thoufand feven hundred and fixty-four, and ftall meet afterwards in like manner, as often as it ftall be neceffary, for putting fo much of this Act in execution, as is hereby committed to their Care and Charge; and the faid Commiffioners, or fo many of them as ftall be prefent at fuch General Meeting or Meetings, or the major Part of them, are hereby authorized and required to putfo much as aforefaid of this prefent Act in execution, and ftall afcertain and fet down in Writing the feveral Proportions which ougnt to be charged upon every Hundred, Lathe, Wapentake, Rape, Ward, or other Divifion respectively, within England, Wales, and Berwick upon Tweed, for and towards the raffing and making up the whole Sum before by this Act charged upon the whole County, City, or other Places for which they are hereby appointed Commiffioners, by charging in proportion to the Sums which were afleffed on the fame Hundreds or Divifions refpeetively, by an Act of Parliament made and pailed in the fourth Year of the Reign of their a5 by the A& 4 late Majcfties King William and Queen Mary, of Bleffed Memory, intituled, An AR jor granting to their w. & M.<r. i.
