An Act to continue feveral Laws for the better regulating of Pilots for the conducting of Ships and Veffels from Dover, Deal, and ljle of Thanet, up the Rivers of Thames and Midway ; relating to the Landing of Rum or Spirits of the Britifj Sugar Planta- tions before the Duties of Excife are paid thereon ; and to the further Punifhment of Perfons going armed or difguifed, in Defiance of the Laws of Cuftoms or Excife ; and to the Relief of the Officers of the Cuftoms in Informations upon Seizures ; and •for granting a Liberty to carry Sugars of the Growth, Produce, or Manufacture of any of his Majefty's Sugar Colonies, directly into Foreign Parts, in Ships built in Great Brila-in, and navigated according to Law, and for punifhing Perfons who fhail damage or deftroy any Banks, Flood-gates, Sluices, or other Works, belonging to the Rivers and Streams made navigable by Act of Parliament. f S/" ^ ^ ^ "^ ^ '^ *^ e ^ aws herein after-mentioned have, by Experience, been found ufeful Vf and beneficial, and are near expiring;' May it therefore pleafe your Majefty, that it may be enacted ; and Be it enacted by the King's moil Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament afiembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That an Act made in the third Year of the Reign of King George the Firft, intituled, An Ail for the better regulating of Pilots for the conducting of Ships and Vejjels from Dover, Deal, and the Ifle of Thanet, up the Rivers of Thames and Med way, which was to continue in force for (even Years, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Parliament ; and alfo a Claufe for further regulating the Pilots of Dover, Deal, and the Ifli of Thanet, in an Act palled in the feventh Year of his laid Majefty's Reign, which was to be in force during the Continuance of the faid Act of the third Year of his faid Majefty's Reign ; which faid Aft, together with the faid Claufe, were, by feveral fubfequent Acts, made in the tenth Year of his faid Majefty's Reign, and of the eighth and twenty-third Years of the Reign of his late Majefty King George the Second, fur- ther continued until the twenty-fifth Day of March one thotifand feven hundred and fixty-four, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Parliament ; fhall be and the fame are hereby further continued from the Expiration thereof until the twenty-fifth Day of March one thoufand feven hundred and feventy-eight, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Par- liament. II. And be further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That fo much of an Aft made in the fif- teenth and fixteenth Years of the Reign of his late Majefty King George the Second, intituled, An Ad to impower the Importers or Proprietors of Rum or Spirits of 7/;<?Britifh Sugar Plantations, to land the fame before Payment of the Duties of Excife charged thereon, and to lodge the fame in Warehoufes at their own Expence ; and for the Relief of Ralph Barrow, in refpeil to the Duty onfome Rock Salt, loft by the Overftaiving of the Rivers Weaver and Dane; as relates to the Landing of Rum or Spirits of the Britifh Sugar Plantations before Payment of the Duties of Excife, and to the Lodging of the fame in Warehoufes at the Expence of the Importers or Proprietors thereof; which was to continue in force until the twenty-ninth Day of September one thoufand feven hundred and forty-nine, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Parliament ; and which, by an Aft made in the twenty-third Year of his faid late Majefty's Reign, was further continued from the Expiration thereof until the twenty-ninth Day of September one thoufand feven hundred and fifty-feven, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Parliament ; and which, by an Aft made in the thirty-firft Year of his faid late Majefty's Reign, was amended, and further continued until the twenty-ninth Day of September one thoufand feven hundred and fixty-four, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Parliament; fhall be and the fame is hereby further continued from the Expiration thereof until the twenty-ninth Day of September one thoufand feven hundred and feventy-one, and from thence to the End of the then next Seiiion of Parliament. III. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That fo much of an Act made in the nineteenth Year of the Reign of his late Majefty King George the Second, intituled, An Acl for the further Punijimient of Perfons going armed or difguifed in defiance of the Laivs of Cii/loms or Excife ; and for indemnifying Offenders againjl thofe Laws upon the Terms therein mentioned ; and for Relief of Officers of the Ciiftoms in Informations upon Seizures ; as relates to the further Punifhment of Perfons going armed or difguifed in defiance of the Laws of Cuftoms or Excife, and to the Relief of Officers of the Cuftoms in Informations upon Seizures ; which Aft was to continue in force for the Space of feven Years, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Parliament; and which, by feveral fubfequent Afts, made in the twenty-fixth and thirty-fecond Years of his fajd Majefty's Reign, was further continued until the twenty-ninth Day of September one thoufand (even hundred and fixty- four, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Parliament ; fhall be and the fame is hereby further continued from the Expiration thereof until the twenty-ninth of September one thou- fand feven hundred and feventy-one, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Par- liament.
